What does WETT stand for?
Wood Energy Technology Transfer. It is the Canadian organisation that trains and certifies people who inspect, install and maintain wood-burning systems.
Why would I need a WETT inspection in Vernon?
The usual reasons are an insurer asking for a report, buying or selling a home with a wood stove or fireplace, or wanting to know that a newly installed appliance meets code.
What does a WETT inspection cost in Vernon?
The first appliance is $199.95 for a WETT Level 1 inspection. Each additional wood stove, fireplace or similar appliance on the same property is $99.95.
What will the inspector look at?
The appliance, the chimney and venting, the floor protection and the clearances to nearby combustible materials, as far as they can be seen without taking anything apart.
How should I prepare for a WETT inspection?
Let the appliance cool completely, clear the area around it and have any manuals or installation paperwork on hand. The inspector also needs to see the appliance's certification label.
Will I get a written report?
Yes. You receive a written report of what was inspected and whether it meets the applicable codes, which you can pass on to your insurer or the other party in a sale.
